Our Unspoiled Land

2008 Spring/Summer: March 7 – April 26

Jane Haslem Gallery is pleased to present Our Unspoiled Land, an exhibition that celebrates the beauty and fragility of nature as captured by a variety of American artists. Landscape is a timeless genre that has been capturing the imagination of American artists since the time of the Hudson River School. In today’s society, landscape scenes can serve to reconnect us with the untouched wilderness that defined our nation at its conception. They remind us that our pristine natural preserves are increasingly vulnerable.

Featured artists are Tom Edwards, George Harkins, Joseph Raffael, Karl Schrag, Moishe Smith, and Richard Ziemann. These artists work in a range of media including watercolor, drawing, etching, engraving and screen print. A stroll through the gallery will take you on a sublime journey from the back woods of Maine to the valleys of Colorado, from sunrise to night’s sickle moon and from spring ponds to autumn waterfalls.
